Short answer: Yes — for recurring volumes, specification windows, packing and labelling can usually be tailored. Anything that needs a dedicated run or special materials affects price and lead time.
What is usually flexible
- Specification windows: tightening limits on active matter, moisture, salts, colour or heavy metals where your process is sensitive.
- Packing: bag size, liner type, pallet configuration, stretch wrapping and whether pallets are heat-treated.
- Labelling: neutral bags, your own part number, private-label printing, or additional markings such as your internal code.
- Documentation: additional parameters on the COA, or an extra copy of documents sent to a third party.
What is less flexible
- Chemistry: a different chain cut or counterion is a different product (for example LDS instead of SLS).
- Very small runs of a custom grade: these usually carry a minimum quantity and a longer lead time.
- Regulated claims: certification and compliance claims need to be agreed and documented in advance.
How to approach it
Send your required specification and packing with the enquiry, state your annual volume, and ask which items carry an extra cost. Then confirm the agreed version in writing so the COA and the bags match what you qualified. Related: export packaging, batch consistency and change control.
