Are SLS and SDS the same thing?

Yes. SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate) are two names for the same molecule, CAS 151-21-3. K12 is another common trade name. All our SLS/SDS grades share this identity — only the active content, form and purity differ.

Is SLS the same as SLES?

No. SLS (CAS 151-21-3) is a direct sulfate ester of lauryl alcohol; SLES (CAS 68585-34-2) is the ethoxylated version. SLES is milder and preferred for shampoos and body washes, while SLS offers stronger degreasing for toothpaste, dish and industrial cleaning.

What documents should an SLS supplier provide with each batch?

At minimum: a lot-specific certificate of analysis (COA), a technical data sheet (TDS), and a safety data sheet (SDS). For regulated uses, also ask for compliance statements such as REACH and pharmacopeia conformity where applicable.

What information should I send to get an accurate SLS quotation?

Four things: the grade and form (e.g. SLS 92% powder, 94% needles, or 30% liquid), the volume per shipment, your destination port with the Incoterm (FOB/CFR/CIF), and the target shipment month. With these we return a firm price with a stated validity window.
